Job Description

SUMMARY

To oversee the smooth operation of the Housekeeping Department ensuring the Housekeepers clean all their assigned rooms to the highest quality. Responsible for maintaining order and discipline amongst the staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

Maintain a neat clean and personal appearance and wear correct uniform at all times. Ensure the Housekeeping staff take care of all uniforms, equipment and supplies issued to them. Report any problems to the Assistant Executive Housekeeper. Maintain working knowledge of Housekeeping methods and cleaning supplies. Obtain list of vacant rooms which need to be cleaned immediately and list of prospective check-outs in order to prepare work assignments. Assign workers their duties, and inspects work for conformance to prescribed standards of cleanliness. Advise Front Desk of rooms ready for occupancy. Check stock to ensure adequate supplies. Issue supplies and equipment to workers and ensure they are used according to instructions. Investigate complaints regarding housekeeping service and equipment, and takes corrective action. Examine rooms and public areas to determine need for repairs or replacement of furniture or equipment, and makes recommendations to management. Conduct orientation training of new employees to explain company policies, housekeeping work procedures, and to demonstrate use and maintenance of equipment. Report progress of all new employees to the Executive Housekeeper on a periodic basis. Attend training seminars to perfect housekeeping techniques and procedures, and enhance supervisory skills. Prepare reports concerning room occupancy, payroll expenses, and department expenses. Participate in the cleaning of rooms as the business need increases. Ensure all lost and found items are turned into the Front Desk. Complete Maintenance and Housekeeping request forms for defects found in rooms and forward to the Front Desk. Throughout the day check the Housekeepers and the buildings to make sure everything is in order. Conduct random spot checks on rooms daily. Perform duties of other Supervisors in their absence. Assist the Executive Housekeeper in enforcing all policies and procedures. Inform the Executive Housekeeper of any outstanding defects Assist in the closing of the Housekeeping Department at the end of day shift.
