Job Description

Carpenter Full-Time | Site-Based Relocation Required to Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands Build exceptional spaces in Grand Cayman and bring craftsmanship that shows in every detail. Tranel Group is looking for an experienced, hands-on Carpenter to join our site team on high-end custom residential and commercial projects. This is a skilled trade role for someone who takes pride in precision, clean execution and finished work that meets a high standard. You will work across multiple phases of construction, with a strong focus on finish carpentry, architectural details, doors, trim, cabinetry and custom millwork. We are looking for a craftsperson who can read drawings, think ahead, protect finished work and complete tasks correctly the first time. Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • Craftsmanship matters: work on custom, high-end projects where precision, detailing and finished quality are noticed.
  • Varied, meaningful work: contribute to ground-up custom homes, renovations, commercial work and detailed installations.
  • Hands-on environment: work closely with experienced field leaders and trades in a team that values accountability and problem-solving.
  • No Cayman Islands personal income tax, allowing the compensation package to compare differently from many higher-tax jurisdictions.
  • Live and work in Grand Cayman, with year-round warm weather, world-class beaches and an outdoor island lifestyle outside of work.

About Tranel Group Tranel Group is a General Contractor based in Grand Cayman specializing in high-end residential and commercial construction. We take a hands-on, collaborative approach with a strong focus on craftsmanship, quality, organization, accountability and attention to detail. Our expectation is straightforward: plan the work, solve problems early, communicate clearly, hold the team accountable and deliver work that everyone involved can be proud of. The Role As a Carpenter, you will be responsible for executing carpentry work safely, accurately and efficiently in accordance with drawings, specifications, approved details and Tranel Group quality standards. You will coordinate with Foremen, Site Supervisors and other trades while taking ownership of your assigned work from layout through completion. You should be equally comfortable reading a detail, setting out work, completing precise finish installations, performing carpentry and identifying an issue before it affects the finished product. What You Will Own

  • Read and execute work from architectural drawings, shop drawings, specifications, submittals and approved details.
  • Measure, lay out, cut, assemble and install materials accurately and consistently.
  • Complete high-quality finish carpentry including doors, frames, casing, baseboards, trim, hardware and detailed architectural finishes.
  • Install cabinetry, custom millwork, built-ins and specialty features to a high standard.
  • Perform framing, blocking, backing, layout and general carpentry as required.
  • Verify dimensions, levels, alignment and site conditions before fabrication or installation.
  • Identify discrepancies, missing information or constructability concerns before proceeding and raise them with site leadership.
  • Protect completed work and surrounding finishes during installation.
  • Use tools and materials responsibly and maintain an organized, clean and safe work area.
  • Coordinate professionally with site leadership and other trades to maintain workflow and avoid rework.
  • Take ownership of workmanship, complete assigned tasks on time and correct deficiencies when required.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years of professional carpentry experience in a Carpenter role with a General Contractor.
  • Proven experience on high-end residential, commercial and/or hospitality construction with a strong emphasis on quality and craftsmanship.
  • Strong finish-carpentry experience, including doors, trim, cabinetry, custom millwork and detailed installations.
  • Solid framing, layout and general carpentry fundamentals.
  • Ability to independently read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and shop drawings and translate details accurately into completed work.
  • Strong knowledge of materials, installation methods, tolerances and professional job-site practices.
  • Skilled and safe use of professional hand and power tools.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to consistently produce clean, precise finished work.
  • Able to work independently while communicating clearly and following site direction.
  • Reliable, punctual, organized and accountable, with a proactive approach to work.
  • Physically capable of performing carpentry/site duties, including lifting and handling materials as required.
  • Caribbean or island construction experience is an advantage
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Who Will Thrive in This Role This role suits a skilled craftsperson who takes personal pride in the finished product. You notice details, think through the work before cutting or installing, and do not rely on someone else to catch avoidable mistakes.

  • Hands-on, dependable and accountable.
  • Precise and detail-oriented, with high standards for craftsmanship.
  • Able to plan assigned work, organize materials and maintain productivity.
  • Comfortable asking questions when a drawing, detail or instruction is unclear.
  • Respectful of finished surfaces, client property, tools and materials.
  • Works well with Foremen, Supervisors, subcontractors and other trades.
  • Adaptable and willing to contribute across different phases of construction when required.
