Job Description

As the Manager, and in conjunction with the firm’s compliance with the requirements of ISQM1 and QC 1000, and reporting to the SoQM Leader and SoQM Delegate, the applicant of SoQM will be responsible for the following:

Operational responsibilities

  • Monitoring the operation of the firms SoQM controls and resolving instances of late controls and escalating as necessary.
  • Design and implementation new processes and controls across the firm (Audit, Tax and Advisory) as necessary.
  • Participate in the annual iRAP process and narrative process.
  • Prepare monthly reporting related to SoQM including status of the annual testing program, control operations and remediation progress.

Testing responsibilities

  • Formulating an annual internal audit plan and undertaking internal audits to ensure the firm complies with ISQM1 and QC 1000 operational responsibilities. This will include testing the operating effectiveness over the firm’s documented controls pertaining to the following functions: acceptance & continuance, engagement performance, governance & leadership, human resources & project management, information and communication, intellectual resources, iterative risk management, monitoring and remediation, relevant ethical requirements, and technological resources.
  • Conducting testing and analysis of specified areas of the SoQM using samples and other data and documenting the results of testing in KPMG’s audit software
  • Identifying and reporting on control deficiencies to management, identifying remedial actions and improving current processes and identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency.

The requirements: Applicants for the Manager position must hold an internationally recognized professional accounting qualification (CPA, CA, ACCA, etc.) OR must have successfully completed all courses and examinations required for attainment of a recognized professional accounting designation and have attained at least five to six years relevant experience in either external audit or advisory services, preferably within the financial services industry OR must have worked at a comparable level with an international affiliate office of KPMG for at least two years AND must have exposure to IFRS and/or US GAAP.
