Food and Beverage Host Team Member Job Description

Summary

The ultimate goal of the Food and Beverage Host Team Member is to create “Raving Fan Guests”. You will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks all to be performed with the sole purpose of exceeding guest expectations. You will be given responsibility for assuring the highest quality of guest service, and for assuring the best dining experience for each and every guest.

Responsibilities

We serve fantastic food and drinks -- and we do it in a bright, clean, friendly, and fun place. To do this, everyone here will work as a team. Each member of the team is dedicated to outstanding service. You will develop new skills always working towards the goal of improving the service to our guests. The following is a list of opportunities and types of situations for which you may be responsible:

  • Solving all guest situations politely and pleasantly
  • Operating a state-of-the-art Point of Sale cash register computer, including cash handling
  • Responding professionally to telephone inquiries and orders
  • Replenishing, organizing and displaying miscellaneous merchandise and supplies
  • Operating a state-of-the-art computerized Seating System
  • Greeting every guest in a polite and professional manner, if needed with a specific spiel
  • Escorting guest to tables and using dialogue that is professional, polite and engaging
  • Organizing ones responsibilities to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
  • Outstanding ability to handle multiple guest inquiries at the same time
  • Constant attention to keep all areas clean and presentable--including bathrooms
  • Doing inventories and using a variety of check lists
  • Opening the restaurant in the morning including complete set-up
  • Closing the restaurant at night including proper storage and cleaning
  • Occasional Food Running duties
  • Participating in outside catering and other special functions
  • Any duties that may be required due to the changing nature of our business

Experience Requirements

Due to the wide range of responsibilities and anticipated high volume, we require all host candidates to be highly skilled and similarly experienced. You will be required to attend the C.I. Government’s Sanitation Seminar, even if you already have a certificate in this area, and achieve a passing grade. The ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter who requires little or no direction. They must work well under pressure and be professional, cooperative, supportive, reliable, fun, positive, honest, knowledgeable, extremely personable, agreeable and open to new ideas. Furthermore, it is absolutely essential for all of our team members to possess a strong work ethic, a pleasant disposition and a team-orientated attitude.

Schedule Requirements

This position requires flexibility in regards to shift scheduling. You are expected to work any shift including days, nights, split shifts, weekends and holidays. Schedule requests are considered on a first come first serve basis, however, the needs of the restaurant must come first. Summary

The ultimate goal of the Kitchen Helper/Assistant Team Member is to create “Raving Fan Guests”. This position is critical to the success of the entire restaurant. You will work with others in a fast-paced environment to consistently produce the highest quality product possible in the shortest possible length of time. You will report directly to the Kitchen Management team and will work along with the entire kitchen staff to collectively help make the Tropical Trader Restaurants the best restaurants on the island!

Primary Responsibilities

Your primary responsibility will be to work as a cooperative and supportive team player. Your goal, along with the rest of the kitchen staff, will be to consistently prepare, produce and deliver the highest quality of product by following recipes to their exact specification in the shortest possible time.

Kitchen assistants will be responsible for the following tasks

  • Preparing all menu items
  • Menu specialty development
  • Receiving, inspecting and storing deliveries
  • Storing all food items properly
  • Continuously cleaning and maintaining a spotless work area
  • Ensuring all par levels are attained
  • Performing any prep work that may be required
  • Maintaining all standard hygiene practices
  • Competently working in every station when required to do so
  • Kitchen equipment cleaning and maintenance
  • Maintain safe and secure work practices
  • Handle all food appropriately to avoid any type of potential contamination
  • Identify and properly dispose of food which is unfit for consumption
  • Assisting other staff members when and wherever possible and/or required
  • Any other task that may be required subject to the nature of business

Experience Requirements

Due to the wide range of responsibilities, we require all candidates to have some restaurant kitchen experience. You will be required to attend the C.I. Government’s Sanitation Seminar, even if you already have a certificate in this area. The ideal candidate will be professional, reliable, creative, fun and possess excellent interpersonal skills.

Schedule Requirements

This position requires maintaining flexibility in regards to scheduling including availability during weekends, holidays and evenings. Kitchen Assistants will be required to work long hours and perhaps a split-shift schedule – several hours during the day and then again at night.
